:: DR. TERRY D. OSWALT ::
Dr. Oswalt is Professor of Physics and Space Sciences and has been a member of the Florida Technological University faculty since 1982. He was the first professional astronomer in Florida Tech’s Department of Physics and Space Sciences. He serves on a number of professional society and funding agency committees each year. From 1998 to 2000, Dr. Oswalt served as Program Director for Stellar Astronomy and Astrophysics at the National Science Foundation. After returning to Florida Tech in 2000, he served as Associate Dean for Research for the College of Science (2000-5) and Interim Vice Provost for Research (2005-6). He is now Head of the Department of Physics & Space Sciences and Associate Provost for Research. Dr. Oswalt has written over 130 scientific articles and has edited three astronomy books. He is currently editing a six-volume series of astronomy reference books.
Dr. Oswalt’s current research interests include ground - and space-based studies of late stages of stellar evolution, binary and multiple systems of stars, and especially collapsed stars called white dwarfs. Ph.D. The Ohio State University, 1981
